We have been talking with a group of farmers in Janbanjelly, a village about 30 km away from us, for a couple of years now. They have a large piece of land which would be enough for 100 families to have a plot and farm vegetables and fruit trees. They could then sell the produce in the local markets and use the money for educating their children, among other things. This would be really beneficial for the village and would hopefully raise those families to a place above the poverty level.

To get the project underway the farmers need water on the site, which at the moment they do not have. They have drawn up a proposal for pumps and solar panels, which comes to about £6000. Once they have the water they can deal with the other issues, eg fencing around the plot so that animals do not ruin their crops, seeds and implements for doing the work.

This is a very sincere hard-working group of men and we would really like to help them. If anyone wants to get involved in this project please get in touch. Click here to fill out a contact form  »
