Ebrima Bojang has been invaluable to us in our school sponsorship project, liaising between us and the schools, bringing needy students to our attention, and dealing with administrative details. We don't know what we would do without him! This is his story:

I am Ebrima Y Bojang. I am a native of Janbanjelly village in the Kombo South District in The Gambia in West Africa. I am a student of the university of The Gambia, studying mathematics and economics. I had trained as a teacher at The Gambia College and taught for three years.

I have been able to come this far in education thanks to the support of friends and philanthropists. I have gone through difficulties in order to complete High School before I came across assistance and help; walking long distances to school in bare feet, being driven away from school because of lack of money to pay school fees and to buy books, going to school in one pair of uniform for the whole year etc.

This had been a terrible experience for me. Now that I have successfully attained this level of education, I have vowed to deploy all efforts to see to it that no other child goes through the nightmare that I went through.

My wishes have been partially fulfilled when I met Jan Roy and Hannah Sneller. Together we have made and are making a difference in the lives of children of similar backgrounds to mine. There are still hundreds, thousands of children of school-going age and a lot more who have gone through the basic cycle (primary) but could not continue or start school because of a lack of assistance and support.

This charity is set up to bring life and meaning to the lives of many such children who should have been in school but are not because of lack of resources on the part of their parents.

It is for this reason that I make an appeal to all well-meaning people to help in this noble venture to enable the beneficiaries live a life expected of human beings.
