HopeForAll is based in The Gambia, West Africa. Our vision is to share God's love in practical ways among the people here, equipping them to have a better quality of life and hope for the future by working with them to transform their communities. We recognise that this is not going to happen overnight, and we are committed to a long-term mentality, in which we encourage people to take ownership and be committed to partnership in this venture.
We have projects in the areas of education, health and water. The majority of our efforts are based among Serahule communities, particularly in the village of Sabi, where the work of HopeForAll first began. While we are open to working with other people groups too (many of our school children are not Serahule) we recognise that much concentration has gone into the more prominent people groups, while the Serahule have often been forgotten. In addition we are also translating Bible stories into the heart language of the Serahule people. We believe that it is crucial for people to have literature in their own languages, and we are committed to working towards this. At present the Serahule do not have literature in their own language in The Gambia, although agencies in other West African countries are working on this. For our part, we have put the stories on tape and made them as widely available as possible, as most families own a tape recorder, even though they cannot read and write. |
